As a tutor in Sylvan’s high performing, individualized learning environment, you’ll see the “light bulb” moments daily. You’ll have the time to teach a concept to a student in as many ways as they need until they understand it. You’ll build students’ skills while building their confidence. We are currently hiring a Part-Time Elementary Certified Tutor to complement Sylvan’s growing team of education professionals. Sylvan Learning provides academic tutoring for students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, helping students to get ahead or to get caught up. Our mission is to see success with every child who comes through our doors. The Part-Time Elementary Tutor plays a crucial role in delivering a high-level of content to the students while at the same time building positive, confidence-boosting rapport with the student.
Tutors will be expected to:
- Work in 1-hour tutoring blocks. (Up to 5 blocks per night, and up to 4 nights per week, at tutor’s discretion)
- Multitask: effectively tutoring as many as three students per block.
- Observe and record students’ progress through pre-planned curriculum.
- Communicate clearly and quickly with Center Directors regarding availability and student concerns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; teaching credential preferred
- Mastery of knowledge at all elementary grade levels
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
