Position Summary:
Reports to the R&D Lab Manager. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where they will participate in Research and Development and Product development activities. Work scope includes assembly of test rigs, implementation of data acquisition, testing of prototype equipment, as well as the assembly of prototype hardware.
Duties
- Operate and troubleshoot data acquisition and control for analog sensors, thermocouples, RS-232 serial communication
- Design and construct test fixtures and test stands.
- Assemble prototype hardware.
- Observe and promote safe practices and good housekeeping in the Lab areas.
- Diagnose product problems and communicate symptoms to other team members.
- Correspond with vendors to identify and recommend hardware.
- Maintain lab equipment and supporting infrastructure.
Skills
- Knowledge in the safe use of electrical measurement equipment and laboratory testing procedures.
- Knowledge in the fundamentals data acquisition and control.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Visio.
- Skilled in electrical wiring (sensor power, data acquisition, and control).
- Skilled in tubing and pipe connections (Swagelok or other compression fitting, NPT, liquid, and gas system experience).
- Experience in Fluid/Gas systems (Pumps, pressure transducers, thermocouples, etc.)
- Ability to devise and construct specialized test and/or inspection gear and work through routine problems without direct supervision consistent with good craftsmanship.
- Ability to work with little supervision to develop test fixtures.
- Ability sketch fluids and electrical schematics, test bed assembly, correspondence with vendors, and document lab results.

Minimum Qualifications:
- AA/AS degree with 5 years' experience as a technician in an aerospace or similar prototyping shop.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot or diagnose electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of control systems, serial communication, industrial communication platforms.
- Vacuum hardware experience.
- Lab experience in aerospace research and development and/or assembly and test.
