ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to join our team in Washington D.C. Navy Yard.
Job Summary:
The E3 Engineer directly supports the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager. This position will serve as the primary expert in E3 to systems installed aircraft carriers. Occasional travel may be expected in this position.

The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00-$155,200.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. Job Summary:
The E3 Engineer directly supports the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager. This position will serve as the primary expert in E3 to systems installed aircraft carriers. Occasional travel may be expected in this position.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Act as the program primary expert in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) to systems installed aircraft carriers.
- Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM)
- Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience.
- Provide responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), Liaison Action Request (LAR), Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Availability Work Package (AWP) Change Request Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs) Review Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering to include some experience in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineering.
- Must have some experience with U.S. Navy or Coast Guard Vessels.
- Good technical and written communication skills.
- Willing to travel occasionally to Newport News, VA if requested.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with U.S. Navy Nuclear Powered Vessels.
- Working with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard auxiliary systems.
- Experience working with program managers in an engineering role.
- Knowledge of warfare systems
Clearance Requirements:
- Must possess a current and active U.S. Government secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
