COMPENSATION: $24.00/hr - $35.00/hr

Role Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Engineer Co-Op will be working alongside our existing electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software engineers on medical device development. This role is multi-disciplinary, supporting the design, development, and testing of electro-mechanical subsystems and components. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to apply their academic knowledge in a collaborative and innovative environment. Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of electro-mechanical systems and assemblies, including both electrical and mechanical components
- Create detailed drawings for parts, precision motion stages and assemblies used CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications
- Help build and assemble prototypes, ensuring that they meet design specifications and performance criteria
- Assemble precision components and wire harnesses, and program automated functionalities to ensure seamless operation and integration of systems
- Design and build test fixtures, including integrating data acquisition systems and programming for automated testing and data collection
- Perform dynamic system modeling, kinematic modeling, and conduct structural and thermal analysis to validate and optimize design components for performance and reliability
- Conduct testing of electro-mechanical systems, identify issues, and assist in troubleshooting and debugging
- Analyze test data and provide insights to improve system performance and reliability
- Assist in creating technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals
- Assist in creating method sheets, developing tooling, and qualifying process to ensure smooth production operations and adherence to quality standards
- Collaborate with senior engineers on various projects and contribute to brainstorming and problem-solving sessions
- Help with project management tasks, including scheduling, progress tracking, and resource allocation
- Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends relevant to electro-mechanical engineering
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanical design principles, and control systems
- Basic understanding of electronic components, sensors, and actuators
- Proficiency in CAD software (ex: SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design (including DFM) and modeling
- Experience with 3D printing and other additive manufacturing techniques for creating prototypes and parts
- Proficient in CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, and other manufacturing techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to project goals
- Prior internship or co-op experience in engineering or a related field a plus
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, HTML and/or C++ for data analysis or control applications a plus
- Involvement in academic, extracurricular activities or personal projects related to robotics, automation, or electro-mechanical systems a plus (ex: FIRST Robotics)
