Electrical Engineering Technician

- Goal(s) of this Position
- This position provides technical support to the engineering department by performing a combination of complex or non-routine duties involving test set construction, soldering, data collection, and production support
- Tasks and Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering Technician I
- Uses computer applications as needed for functional specialty.
- Accepts non-routine and complex assignments.
- Follows established procedures Uses judgment and makes choices on how to proceed.
- Uses information from within and/or outside the organization when necessary.
- Reads, interprets, and may create engineering drawings, schematics and complex test procedures.
- May perform testing on prototype electrical and/or mechanical designs.
- Able to perform soldering.
- Ability to use electronic test equipment; i.e. Oscilloscopes, DMM, Power Supplies, etc.
- Ability to size wires and build cables for a given application
- Complies with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Other tasks as assigned
Electrical Engineering Technician II
In addition to the Electrical Engineering Technician I Responsibilities
- Understands and uses knowledge of other disciplines.
- Reads, understands and instructs others in the use of test procedures, and documentation associated with specialized equipment.
- May create tools and fixtures specific to functional area.
- Will work closely with engineers to execute product design.
- Constructs complex engineering prototypes, models and builds special test equipment.
- Skills in computer hardware and /or software applications.
- Ability to provide direction to manufacturing regarding assembly of sub-assemblies
Electrical Engineering Technician III
In addition to the Electrical Engineering Technician II Responsibilities
- Applies technical support in a specialized discipline using knowledge and theory of electronics and mechanics, etc.
- Researches, recommends, and implements appropriate changes for process improvements.
- Working knowledge and use of complex tools and equipment specific to functional areas.
- May use statistical, mathematical and other quantitative and qualitative methods and measurements.
- Conducts complex testing, analysis and troubleshooting.
- Develop simple test fixture
Senior Electrical Engineer Technician
In addition to the Electrical Engineering Technician III Responsibilities
- Ability to develop creative solution to problems
- Conducts testing to determine effectiveness of product specifications.
- Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Electrical Engineer Technician I
- Associates degree is required or equivalent experience combined with High School diploma or GED.
- 0 – 4 years of related technical experience.
- Travel: Travel Domestic or International 0 –5 %
Electrical Engineer Technician II
- Associates degree is required or equivalent experience combined with High School diploma or GED.
- 4 – 7 years of related technical experience.
- Travel: Travel Domestic or International 0 –5 %
Electrical Engineer Technician III
- Associates degree is required or equivalent experience combined with High School diploma or GED.
- 7 – 10 years of related technical experience.
- Travel: Travel Domestic or International 0 –5 %
Senior Electrical Engineer Technician
- Associates degree is required or equivalent experience combined with High School diploma or GED.
- 10+ years of related technical experience.
- Travel: Travel Domestic or International 0 –5 %
