Electrician - Postsecondary Education - Base Salary to 85k/year - Minneapolis, MN
- Our client, a pioneer institution in technical education with a legacy spanning over a century, is seeking an Electrician to join their distinguished faculty. They are specifically looking for a Electrician with significant industry experience who is eager to transition into an educational role, where prior teaching experience is NOT required but a passion for sharing knowledge and mentoring students is essential. Responsibilities:
- Deliver and maintain curriculum aligned with current industry standards and practices.
- Teach key principles, theories, and skills necessary for entry-level positions in the electrical industry.
- Apply personal industry experience to reinforce program theories and enhance learning.
- Facilitate engaging learning activities in a positive and supportive environment.
- Monitor, assess, and advise students on their technical and academic progress and performance.
- Develop and update lesson materials, training aids, and maintain course equipment.
- Use modern academic and industry practices in course instruction.
- Assist with student recruitment, advising, and job placement efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals to support program relevance.
Qualifications:
- Hold a current license issued by the Minnesota Board of Electricity as a Class A master electrician or a Class A journeyworker electrician; OR,
- Hold a current license issued by an electrical licensing authority in the state where the school is located if the state has a reciprocal agreement with the Minnesota Board of Electricity for either master or journeyworker licenses; OR,
- Have a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and have 4,000 hours of experience performing electrical work; OR,
- Have an Associate of Applied Science degree in electrical construction or maintenance, or both, and have 6,000 hours of experience performing electrical work; OR,
- Have a two-year diploma for completing a two-year electrical construction program or maintenance program, or both, and have 6,000 hours of experience performing electrical work; OR
- For courses limited to specific technical or general education areas, other than general wiring methods or the application of electrical codes, be a technical expert based on special training or certification or accreditation in the specific knowledge or skill area.
- Except for instructors of courses in subpart 2, item F, a minimum of 2,000 hours of the required instructor experience must have been in the five years prior to the application for program approval or the instructor's employment date, whichever is later, and consist of either:
- A minimum of 2,000 hours of experience performing electrical work; OR,
- (1) up to 1,500 hours of experience credit for instruction based on a formula in which one hour of instruction equals two hours of experience credit; plus (2) a sufficient number of hours of experience performing electrical work to total 2,000 hours.
