About the Job
Position Summary:
Specific accountabilities include evaluating manufacturing processes to improve product quality, process efficiencies and machine reliability, failure analyses, developing new control systems and modifying existing systems and participating in project activities in the areas of controls/electrical design and equipment integration.
Responsibilities:
- Observes and records production operations and inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
- Monitor and improve machine process, help develop work instructions and seeks methods to improve standard operational and electrical working practices
- Design, program, analyze and repair electrical drives and control units including configuring PLC motor controls and electrical protection
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting Programmable Electronic Systems
- Participate in projects that support in reducing downtime and scrap
- Modify control system logic and industrial machinery to optimize equipment performance and control
- Investigate operational problems affecting production in a systematic and methodical manner
- Work with maintenance team to improve the skills of the electricians
- Program software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, which will include maintaining a backup library of robotic, PLC and other instrumentation software
- Coordinates with supervisors and production personnel for parts, tooling, equipment, and machinery
- Performs preventative maintenance for electrical components as directed
- Participate in implementing safety improvements
- Always work in a safe manner and wear proper PPE and follows all safety rules and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in manufacturing, engineering or related area and at least one year’s work experience preferred
- Working knowledge of high-volume, high speed manufacturing
- Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic documentation and drawings and interpret equipment data
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting skills, preferably in PLC motor controls and electrical equipment
- Perform PLC programming & diagnostics on various systems and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as relays, contactors, overloads, timers, photo detection & proximity switches or light curtains
- Strong understanding of Allen Bradley Control Systems, RS Logic 5000 & Seimens S7 preferred
- Experience with Fanuc and Toshiba plus
- Must be self-starter with the ability to work alone or in a team environment with limited supervision
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience a plus
- Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen experience/certification a plus
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good mathematical and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work up to 12 hours at a time on day shift or night shift
- Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and off-shifts as required
