Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to design wire harness components and package wire harnesses for deployment on responsible vehicles. Reporting to a Sr. Engineering Manager, this role will support the ES2 department's objectives by ensuring that electrical components meet quality, performance, cost, and timing requirements across multiple vehicle and mobility platforms.

Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to design wire harness components and package wire harnesses for deployment on responsible vehicles. Reporting to a Sr. Engineering Manager, this role will support the ES2 department's objectives by ensuring that electrical components meet quality, performance, cost, and timing requirements across multiple vehicle and mobility platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal, external, and international stakeholders in cross-functional teams to design packaging structures, prepare drawings, and manage schedules for complex engineering challenges.
- Manage and lead part development to meet cost, mass, performance, and schedule targets, maintaining high quality and efficiency from project inception through production.
- Communicate clearly and frequently with management teams, project leaders, manufacturing, suppliers, design departments.
- Develop design data in 3D using CATIA v5 and create 2D drawings using Zuken E3 (CR5000) CAD software.
- Participate in meetings with commodity engineers, wire harness supplier engineers, and vehicle assembly members.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle development and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with wire harness manufacturing processes and related design challenges.
- At least 5 years of experience collaborating with suppliers.
- Proficiency in CATIA v5 for 3D data and drawing preparation.
- 5+ years of vehicle development experience.
- Strong abilities in planning, scheduling, and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Experience supporting a production vehicle trial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Documented problem-solving experience.
- Experience with Japanese in vehicle development (Full Model change or Major/Minor model change).
- Proficiency in leading variable workforces or Design-In members.
- Deep understanding of wire harness development or manufacturing processes.
- Experience negotiating with cross-functional departments.
- Experience designing electrical systems/parts, including wire harness routing, wire specification issuance, or vehicle electric architecture.
- Japanese language capability.
