Our client has a very exciting and rare opportunity, to join a department during a significant growth period. As Electrical Safety Engineer, this position is responsible as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for NFPA 70 and 70E, and for leading the development and implementation of the client's electrical safety program, consistent with Environment, Safety, and Health policies and requirements. The objective of the electrical safety program is to ensure safe operations, maintenance and repair to the client's vast electrical system and manage associated risks through control of electrical hazards.
Core Duties:
Core Duties:
* Review and approve facility wide electrical design, construction, operation, and decommissioning activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and code requirements, particularly regarding medium and high voltage installations (600 volts and above). Participate in design reviews for the above activities.
* Inspect medium and high voltage electrical installations and construction job sites to monitor adherence to safety practices and procedures.
* Develop, maintain and conduct training on Electrical Safety topics including Basic Electrical Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Capacitor Banks, Battery Banks and Electric Utilization.
* Maintain currency in applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations and codes, and modify client's policies and practices to ensure adherence to the latest requirements.
* Provide professional electrical safety engineering support including developing, updating and interpreting client's policies and practices, codes and industry standards as needed to advance the electrical safety program.
* Disseminate electrical safety information and instructions to promote the objectives of the electrical safety program through effective oral and written communication, such as newsletter articles and small group meetings.
* Conduct assessments of Electrical Safety Programs, including field inspections, procedure and policy reviews to identify weaknesses and corrective actions.
* Provide support as needed to all other aspects of industrial safety including OSHA compliance evaluations, accident and incident investigations, program development and training.
* Conduct receipt inspections of electrical equipment to ensure safety and compliance with contract requirements.

* Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Master's Degree desirable.
* This position requires 10-12 years of progressive experience in design, fabrication, testing, and/or operating medium and high voltage electrical systems and components; implementing electrical safety practices in laboratory or industrial setting; and/or performing electrical safety interpretations and implementations.
* Must have expert working knowledge in NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NESC, Arc Flash Hazards, Arc Flash Analysis, Personal Protective Equipment and OSHA regulations.
* Experience in a Research & Development setting is highly desired.
* This position requires expert level knowledge of electrical standards, codes, and regulatory requirements. The individual should be familiar with the equipment, tools and work practices of the industrial trades as well as with research and development practices for high and low voltage, AC and DC electrical systems.
* The incumbent should have a general knowledge of disciplines other than electrical engineering criteria, and contract documents. An ability to apply electrical safety knowledge through development and implantation of programs and assessments and to conduct incident investigations is needed.
* The position requires an ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, any safety criteria, concerns, and recommendations to personnel at all levels while working effectively as a team member. Ability to apply computer-based tools to development of reports, track assessments, and document evaluations is required.
