MCS is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager. The Project Manager provides expert level leadership in project management and relationship skills leading integrated design teams and their interactions with MCS customers. The successful Project Manager consistently demonstrates a "customer first" approach to developing and maintaining key relationships with and exceeding customer expectations. This individual works equally well as an individual contributor and as a leader of a highly specialized team.
Responsibilities:
- Manages high-profile projects applying technical and project management expertise while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
- Nurtures existing client relationships and proactively pursues opportunities for new business.
- Provides client consultation; drawing on professional expertise and broad knowledge of Sparling's menu of services.
- Leads the development and delivery of client presentations.
- Capable of leading client work with MCS’s customers including leading project teams on local and national assignments.
- Applies industry and project management expertise while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
- Develops strategic Electrical and Technology plans, programming documentation, and design services.
- Develops and delivers client presentations, reports, and deliverables.
- Collaborates with A/E/C project teams as requested to differentiate Sparling and add technical value from the client perspective.
- Listens and responds promptly to client questions and concerns, building client confidence and resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
- Participates actively in Quality Assurance and Control procedures throughout the consulting engagement.
- Maintains current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the relevant project and market types, and continually strengthen skills.
- Periodically acts as QC/QA Reviewer on other PM's projects.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and teams to budget and schedule, while meeting key stakeholder critical success factors.
- Proactive, professional, timely, and detail-oriented approach to managing project schedules, design staff, and deliverables to exceed client expectations.
- Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism, demeanor, and broad technical knowledge.
- Familiarity with, and ability to produce, project-related documents and documentation standards required of a Project Manager. Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Extensive understanding and knowledge of power distribution, power monitoring, fire alarm, lighting, and controls for the built environment.
- Working knowledge of voice/data systems, low voltage systems for the built environment, IT/telecommunications, wireless systems, electronic security systems.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare, higher education, military, and/or life science communities including architects, engineers, contractors, and facilities, both stakeholders and key decision-makers.
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into, projects.
- Licensed State of Florida Professional Engineer or capable of obtaining Professional
- Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus minimum six years related
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional certifications, registrations, and credentials relevant to MCS's practice areas and markets.
- Deep understanding of data center design.
- Thorough understanding of healthcare design.
- Experience in the construction industry and in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
- Understanding of sustainable design practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+years experience as an Electrical Project Manager experience and demonstrate an ability to successfully manage large multi-million dollar projects such as high rises, high-density commercial Hotels and large Garden style apartment complexes.
- Able to work in close collaboration with esteemed customers, maintain and enhance strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Able to work in a professional work environment and show strong business acumen.
- Must have managed a project valued at more than 1 million of electrical work.
- Strong communication and leadership skills required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
EDUCATION: College Degree in a relevant field is mandatory.
Fundamental Functions
Work Environment
- Work assignments may vary based on client requirements.
- Work may be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
- Work may be performed in the field. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy, or windy climates.
Schedule
- Regular attendance following an established work schedule is mandatory.
- It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.
- You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.
- This position may require night and weekend work and could include travel to areas with varying field conditions.
Physical Requirements
- May require climbing ladders, working at heights and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.
- Must possess the capability to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended durations. Will be required to operate in noisy environments with temperatures higher or lower than standard office conditions. Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC/laptop. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
Equipment and Machines
- General office equipment includes but is not limited to PCs/laptops, telephones, copiers, servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
- General field equipment includes but is not limited to hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial/motorized lifts, and test equipment.
- This position may require the operation of motor vehicles as an essential job function. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. The ability to operate company vehicles safely and responsibly is crucial. Employees may be subject to periodic motor vehicle record checks, and any discrepancies may impact eligibility for the position. MCS of Tampa assumes no liability for accidents, incidents, or violations that may occur while employees are operating motor vehicles for non-work-related purposes. Safety is of utmost importance, and adherence to traffic laws and company policies governing the use of motor vehicles is mandatory.
Travel
- Travel requirements will vary. Not all positions require travel.
- A current passport is required for Overseas travel.
Other Essential Functions
- Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses through the duration of the project or contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.

- For office environments, grooming and dress are typically business casual but are dependent on the client’s standards.
- For field environments, grooming and dress must not pose a safety hazard to yourself or employees working in the same general area. MCS of Tampa employees must adhere to OSHA Standards.
