We're searching for the next generation of innovative minds who want to shape the world and live to build. Christman Facility Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer in our Dallas, Texas region. As a part of the construction project team, responsibilities of this role includes creating a safe work environment, managing the project change process and punch list, producing, obtaining and organizing project management and contractual documents, establishing and administering the submittal process, coordinating inspections, and monitoring project billing.
What You Will Do:
As Project Engineer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Produces and organizes project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards for the document type, so team members can readily access necessary documentation.
- Proactively prepares project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving to allow efficient final compilation and delivery on schedule.
- Secures all necessary contractually required documents, including safety programs, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) documents, insurance policies, bonds from clients, trade contractors, and supplier prior to project commencement.
- Establishes billing requirements as required by contract with accounting prior to commencement. In addition to administering project billing according to established contractual requirements, including timely receipt of waivers.
- Assists Project Manager with reviewing, approving, and processing trade contractor material and supplier invoices prior to submission to the assigned Project Accountant.
- Tracks actual progress against planned projects schedule and monitors manpower requirements necessary to achieve goal.
- Oversees Project Change process.
- Manages punch list items to completion.
- Accurately summarizes important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
- Assists the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, creates project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establishes relationships with inspectors, schedules inspections, and ensures readiness for inspection.
- Responsible for overseeing all procurement, material tracking, inspection, and on-site storage.
- Manages the Request for Information (RFI) process and ensures that information is flowing timely to all parties.
- Updates contract drawings to reflect all approved changes, and ensures trade contractor document updates are completed.
- Organizes and prioritizes submittal requirements specified in contract documents and review for completeness. Creates submittal log according to Christman standards. In order to ensure timely submittals, reviews shop drawings, samples for compliance with contract documents, and manages architect submittal review process.
- Posts all required safety information and signage to inform all workers and site visitors about site hazards and confirm appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Models appropriate attire and PPE.
- Determines the project scope, and coordinates with necessary partners to compile pricing for project scopes and changes.
What You Will Bring to the Team:
Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or other relevant course work.
- Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Or equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.
Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:
- One(1) or more years of work experience in construction or related job field.

- Proven understanding of compliance and quality assurance guidelines and beset practices.
- Strong field management experience.
- Well organized, excellent communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.
- Familiarity with construction project management software.
- Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work well with supervision and peers.
- Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
- Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: The majority of work is completed outside at the construction site, and in an office trailer where the project is monitored and daily decisions are made about construction activities. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats, safety glasses, and high visibility clothing). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, tolerate heights, able to talk and hear others speaking, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and to operate a computer keyboard and phone while maintaining visual acuity. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 25 pounds constantly.
