Must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship; Ability to work in a manufacturing atmosphere safely and follow safety practices and regulations; Must be willing and able to work any shift in a 24/7 operation and overtime including weekends and holidays; Ability to lift at least 50lbs as needed; Must have basic computer skills to create work orders, complete work orders, plan work, identify parts, and locate spare parts using a computerized maintenance management system after training; Must be able to legally operate company motor vehicles and mobile equipment; Must have strong math skills including reading fractions and decimals; Must have strong troubleshooting skills; Basic welding and flame cutting experience with a basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics. The position requires an individual to stand, climb, work at heights, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes FR9 clothing, safety glasses, hard hat, and steel toed boots with metatarsal protection, hearing protection and other safety equipment as required. Qualified candidates must be able to pass a background test, physical and drug screen.

Summary: Howmet Structure Systems has an immediate opening for an Electrical Maintenance Technician located at our Martinsville facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of a Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
Primary Function:
To inspect, repair, replace, adjust, install, wire and maintain all electrical and electronic equipment in the plant or assigned area including power transmission lines transformers and related equipment. Make mechanical repairs as required in connection with electrical service.
Tools and Equipment:
Wiring diagrams, drawings, electrical and electronic tools, gauges, calibrative and testing equipment, hand tools, drill press, hand grinder, commutator and bench lathe, electrical drills, power hack saw, wire stripper, pipe threading machine, burning and welding equipment, soldering iron, pipe bender, bock and tackle, measuring tools, ect.
Materials:
A.C. and D.C motors and generators, transformers, rectlflers, electronic controls and regulator: various mill electrical equipment, power disruption and control circuits, electronic computing and controls systems, various types of instruments, data recording and processing equipment, control panels and circuits, electronic gauges and detectors, industrial T.V., public address systems, condensers, pumps, fans, poles, hardware, cable wire, conduit and fittings, lighting fixtures, repair and replacement parts, lubricants, ect.
Working Procedures:
- Receives verbal or written instruction covering the scheduling and emergency repair and installation and inspection work to be done.
- Analyzes all types of circuits and wiring diagrams to modify, service, install or repair all types of electronic devices and systems, various mill electrical equipment, electronic computing and controls systems, power and distributing control equipment, measuring, recording, processing and control devices, indication devices, instruments and gauges.
- Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade. Burns, brazes, solders and performance simple layout, fabrication and welding in the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment, including related piping and mechanical component.
- Makes either temporary or permanent repairs or adjustments to equipment such as main motor drives, generators, control panels, relays, controllers, switchboards, circuit breakers, lighting circuits, resistors, etc.
- Install and repairs conduit, splicers, and insulates wires and cables, making splices on hot lines, isolates circuits for repairs.
- Maintains integrating, indicating, or graphic electrical or mechanical instruments.
- Makes mechanical repairs are required in connection with the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment including cranes.
- Advises when faulty equipment should be shut down for repairs.
- Tests, repairs and/or adjusts electronic scales to correct any variation from accuracy.
- Test, repairs and adjust electrical meters, such as osillograph, tachometers, ampmeter, voltmeter, power factory meters, phase shifter, etc.
- Cleans, paints, and lubricates equipment such as bearings, lights, reflectors, switch boxes, controls, pumps, compressors, fans, ect.
- Installs, repair and maintains power transmission lines, transformer, high tension sub station equipment such as disconnects, switch gear, bushings, insulator slings, lighting arrestors, phase wire grounding equipment.
- Erects poles and towers, installs cross arms, insulators, pole hardware, and lines, working from poles, ladders and scaffolds.
- Assists other maintenance or operating personal in repair work as required.
- Fills out reports of maintenance work performed, parts and materials used, inspections made, etc.
- Operates cranes, machinery, mobile equipment, hydraulics lifts; erects and dismantles pepe scaffolds and performs necessary rigging duties in connection with the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Maintains a safe, clean and orderly conditions of work area and equipment.
