Electrical Maintenance Technician - Hiring Immediately at Michigan Milk Producers Assoc

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) established in 1916 is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., MMPA serves dairy farmers throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, employing approximately 625 people in four states. In addition to a cheese plant in Indiana called the Middlebury Cheese Company, and a dairy product plant in Ohio called Superior Dairy, MMPA operates two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. Products made at MMPAs plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

SUMMARY

We're hiring for an hourly maintenance role on 2nd or 3rd shift focused on ensuring the safety and functionality of our production machinery and facilities. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing plant production systems, installing pumps and valves, and maintaining control circuits. The candidate should be comfortable working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using various tools. Adherence to safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices, and collaboration with managers to meet annual goals are key aspects of the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Uphold Food Safety
• Work safely and be organized
• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of production machinery & equipment, physical plant, utilities & grounds in accordance with company policies & procedures
• Troubleshooting and repair of the plant production systems.
• Repair and install sanitary type pumps and valves.
• Repair and maintenance of 24vdc control circuits.
• Complete projects in timely manner
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Be able to climb and work safely at heights
• Work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Chemical Safety Procedures.
• Perform any tasks necessary to ensure a Safe Quality Food product is produced.
• Perform any and all related duties as may be required or necessary.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager to meet annual goals of production, maintenance repair goals, special projects and any jobs deemed necessary.
• All other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of P&ID drawings within an industrial environment and the ability to use them as a troubleshooting tool.
• Ability to troubleshoot digital and analog instrumentation and analog controlled process valving.
• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot 24vdc control circuit using electrical drawings and testing equipment.
• Experience with PLC controlled equipment and the ability to interpret control logic as a troubleshooting tool.
• Experience with the maintenance of high-pressure boiler systems is desired.
• Experience with the maintenance of Wastewater treatment systems is desired.
• Experience with Ammonia refrigeration is desired.
• Basic knowledge of personal computer-based equipment
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Ability to work and communicate verbally, in writing, via phone or radio effectively with a variety of individuals.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task
