About the Job
SOLON Corporation, a leader in designing and installing commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems in the Southwest United States, is seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to join its team. The Electrical Foreman is responsible for all electrical work and the personnel performing this work on a job site.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and direct the daily electrical construction operations on assigned sites, including managing site electricians, temporary workers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all company work is completed within established safety, quality, schedule, and profitability standards.
- Participate in project and activity planning efforts to ensure the safe and efficient execution of project tasks.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment to optimize work equipment, tools, and methods to improve efficiency
- Create and update project 3-week schedules
- Maintain daily reports, including head counts, hours worked by project and task, equipment use, materials received, and daily production
- Monitor crew attendance, performance, and work quality
- Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
- Work with project mechanical foremen and superintendents to ensure proper planning and scheduling of all project work.
- Assist with the execution of project work, including operating tools and equipment and installing materials.
- Coordinate with company construction field leadership, project management, and engineering staff as needed to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information to installation personnel.
- Manage project closeout efforts as needed.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely completion and processing of all project field safety, quality, and other documentation.
- Establish & maintain production rates for crews to ensure schedules are met
- Monitor expenditures and ensure they remain within budget
- Report on project progress to the Electrical Superintendent or Assistant Electrical Superintendent
- Monitor crew attendance, performance, and work quality

- Advise the Electrical Superintendent on the hiring and termination of employees

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an electrical construction supervisory role within the commercial, industrial or heavy civil construction industry. Solar electrical experience is not required but is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of local and national building codes and NEC standards.
- Strong knowledge of above-ground and underground utilities
- Proven experience as a commercial construction foreman/leader
- In-depth knowledge of electrical construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines
- Electrical and/or Photovoltaic commercial construction is a plus
- High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade

- Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time in-state and out-of-state
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work can be physically demanding. It involves frequently working outdoors in various weather and working conditions. Workers may be subjected to extreme weather conditions, terrain, and physical circumstances involving extensive climbing, lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
This position requires weekday and possibly weekend work on assigned sites and work supporting those designated sites. Assigned sites may also require travel, overnight, or extended stays. Sites typically are in the Southwestern United States.
