We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical and Firmware Development Engineer to join our growing team focused on cutting-edge medical IoT wearable devices. In this role, you will play a critical part in the full development lifecycle, from concept to production, of innovative wearable devices that improve patients' lives.
What you will be doing
- Electrical Design:
- Design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for wearable medical devices.
- Component selection and sourcing, considering power consumption, size constraints, and reliability.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on integration and packaging of electronics within wearable form factors.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to medical device industry standards (e.g., IEC 60601).
- Firmware Development:
- Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded systems within wearable devices.
- Implement communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi) for data transfer and connectivity.
- Develop drivers for various sensors and peripherals.
- Optimize firmware for low power consumption and real-time performance.
- Board Bring-Up and Verification:
- Perform board bring-up activities, including debugging hardware and initial firmware loading.
- Develop and execute test plans to verify electrical and firmware functionality.
- Conduct hardware and firmware verification to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Design life Cycle:
- Support end-to-end development from concept, design, integration and end of life of devices.
- Develop and maintain documentation in accordance with QMS and Medical Device regulations.
- Develop content and support traceability of User Needs, Design Inputs, Design Outputs, Verifications and Validations.
- Support Risk Analysis and FMEA creation for both hardware and software.
- Drive testing and certifications in compliance with applicable standards.
What you need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in electrical and firmware development for embedded systems.
- Proven experience in designing and developing wearable devices, ideally in the medical or healthcare domain.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
- Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle).
- Excellent C/C++ programming skills for embedded systems.
- Experience with communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, and I2C/SPI.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) is a plus.
- Experience with medical device regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
