We are actively seeking an Electrical Engineer for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Lighting and Pump Stations to our team. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
This position requires little to no travel outside southern Florida and it is based in BCC’s Miami office.
Responsibilities:- Design and specify electrical systems.
- Working under the supervision of a licensed engineer, analyze and prepare project designs, calculations and drawings for ITS device communications, ITS design, lighting design and electrical design.
- Prepare project and engineering reports such as Required Traceability Verification Matrices (RTVM), Concept of Operations (ConOps), Project System Engineering Management Plans (PSEMP), and ITS Power Reports; may also prepare lighting-related reports, such as Lighting Design Analysis Report (LDAR).
- Analyze and prepare electrical design, calculations, drawings and cost estimates for pump stations, power distribution, and complex or specialized designs.
- Effectively write reports that adhere to common engineering practices and proper English language. Must be able to write clear and detailed reports that can convey to clients the report’s scope from A to Z without leaving voids in the report. This ability applies to plan’s engineering/construction notes.
- Approach tasks with an open mindset; propose innovative solutions to design problems. Provide inputs to the rest of the team. Must be able to review and comment ITS, lighting and electrical plans (QA/QC).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a small design team environment
- Plans production for ITS, lighting and electrical projects. Even though this position is not for a CADD drafter, the position does require the use of CADD software for the drafting of engineering details, in compliance with the FDOT or client’s CADD guidelines.
- May track and provide review tasks of technicians or designers.
- Responsible for managing timely completion of multiple assigned tasks.
- Communicate effectively with team members and internal design groups; external communication as required on assigned tasks.
- Effectively present proposed design solutions as part of internal project meetings; may attend and contribute to presentations with external parties.
- Must be flexible with work schedule during project delivery deadlines.
- Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals
- 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with FDOT Plan Production Standards and CADD software (MicroStation & AutoCAD) is a plus. This position will require the person to learn and be proficient onthese CADD software.
- Familiarity with lighting design software, like AGI32 and electrical simulation software like ETAP is desired.
- To have basic notions of cybersecurity applied to field deployed IP Ethernet devices.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC).
Preferred - Experience with Traffic Signal Controllers and its ancillary equipment.
- Experience with configuring at a basic level, Ethernet switches and other specialty IP devices like CCTV cameras, UPS, sensors and other ITS field devices.
