About the Role:
U.S. Pipe is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing automated equipment and systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Plant Engineering and Maintenance teams to resolve technical, mechanical, and process-related challenges while enhancing operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical, control, and automation issues in equipment and processes.
- Assist in resolving mechanical and technical issues across all automated operations.
- Support & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Plant Engineering and Maintenance teams to identify root causes of electrical and control issues.
- Provide effective solutions through program adjustments, modifications, training, documentation, or system revisions.
Robotic Systems & PLCs:
- Configure, program, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic systems and PLCs.
- Optimize robotic equipment and core machines for peak performance.
- Competency in using Rockwell Automation Products, Wonderware, Cimplicity HMI/SCADA software.
- General knowledge of networking and communication protocols, e.g., EtherNet, Modbus, Profinet, IO-Link. ControlNet and DeviceNet.
- General knowledge of programming and configuring Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Training & Compliance:
- Train technicians in electrical systems, robotic operations, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and operational standards.
- Review current equipment and compile a replacement & service plan.
Inventory & Documentation:
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies critical for electrical and robotic systems.
- Develop and update technical documentation for equipment, systems, and processes.
- Capable of completing projects within a budget.
- Capable of creating schematics, P&IDs, and Flow Diagrams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required with concentrations in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines are preferred.
- Hands-on experience with automated equipment, robotics, and PLC programming is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges effectively.
- Proficiency in electrical systems and control theory.
- Familiarity with robotic programming and maintenance.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD.
