We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing control systems, particularly in hazardous area environments, with a focus on BOP (Blowout Preventer) control systems. This role involves designing, planning, and overseeing the development of components, systems, and machinery used in BOP control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and design electronic interface circuitry applications for controlling products.
- Lead a team of designers in developing electrical, schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings.
- Ensure comprehensive definition of equipment scope and content during initial design processes.
- Develop control applications, instruments, and systems for various commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
- Direct activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and testing adhere to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Coordinate design projects to optimize engineering expertise utilization.
- Provide leadership in project preparation, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Establish design criteria for projects in compliance with required codes and standards.
- Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
- Document and transmit design changes as required to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist sales group in defining engineering parameters for quotations.
- Collaborate with customers (internal/external) to understand project requirements.
- Engineer components/assemblies for BOP control systems in accordance with contracts and applicable standards.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical input and recommendations.
- Offer technical support to manufacturing and testing teams.
- Review and approve engineering documentation.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all company and HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
- 5 or more years of experience in designing control systems.
- Knowledge of hazardous area standards such as ATEX, IECEx, and NEC preferred.
- Familiarity with ABS, DNVGL, and API standards related to BOP control systems preferred.
- CompEx training or equivalent is a plus.
