We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Warrenville, IL. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often dynamic, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects in areas such as power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment, electrical work practices, control systems, battery systems, consumer products, and electrical installations. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.
You will be responsible for:- Performing electrical engineering consulting related to ongoing Exponent work. This includes completing projects associated with power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment, electrical work practices, control systems, battery systems, consumer products, and electrical installations.
- Generating and performing testing protocols in both laboratory and field settings
- Working to answer questions like: why a system failed, what could have prevented an issue, how can a product or equipment be made safer
- Communicating technical information to diverse audiences, including preparation of technical reports and presentations
Experience is desired in, but not limited to, one or more of the following technical areas:
- Circuit analysis and/or system design
- Power electronics and/or systems
- Control systems
- Embedded systems
- Root cause/failure analysis
- Consumer product design
- Industrial process control
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Applied Physics, or similar field
- Hands-on experience with electronics hardware and/or software development
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting
- Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
