Electrical Engineer - Amazon

Description Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Electrical Engineer will be a member of the Kuiper Inter-Satellite Link Avionics team, focusing on the design of the various electrical functions including analog sensor signal conditioning and processing, analog actuator control, and overall monitoring and control across spacecraft interfaces. Key job responsibilities In this role, you will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, from board design and component selection, to layout review and board bring-up and test. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality and innovative designs, while also supporting other Project Kuiper colleagues with reviewing and improving board and other electrical designs. You will be expected to work with a team of top-notch engineers and collaborate with multiple other spacecraft design and integration teams. A day in the life You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, your tasks would vary between board design, layout reviews, test plan development and qualification. This is a cross-functional role requiring constant interaction with multiple HW/SW design teams and end-users. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Redmond, WA, USA Basic Qualifications - B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience - 3+ years of experience in hardware development across the full product life cycle (concept to production at scale) in Consumer Electronics, Power Electronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Automotive, and/or Communications fields or combination thereof. - Experience with PCB design and debugging, including microprocessors, FPGAs, power supplies, ADCs and sensors - Experience with complex board designs, including high-speed interconnects, high-reliability designs, and/or motor & actuator control electronics. - Experience with schematic and layout ECAD tools Preferred Qualifications - M.S. or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field - Experience in development and test of satellite bus systems - Experience with integration of systems into aerospace/avionics enclosures - Electronics design/qualification experience with radiation environments or radiation tolerant hardware - Experience developing highly reliable electronics systems for extreme environments - Experience with low-level firmware development and integration - Experience with rapid iteration prototyping and joint hardware/firmware development; partnering with software engineers to bring-up and test new hardware designs - Experience with Mentor Xpedition or other Mentor ECAD tools - Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python or C/C+- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts and designs to colleagues across disciplines Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
