About the Job
We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team of forensic experts that get to the bottom of electrical failures for a wide range of systems and equipment. Our clients come to us with unique and exciting problems like failed products, damaged equipment or non-working systems. Our experts then review data, perform inspections, tear down equipment and conduct experiments to determine the cause of the problem, validate their results, assist with redesign and /or estimate cost. Although prior failure analysis experience is a plus, we value exceptional candidates from nearly every electrical specialty including electrical power, building systems, consumer products, appliances, manufacturing, communications, automotive and biomedical. Training specific to forensic investigations will be provided to the successful candidate.
During each assignment, our expert provides unbiased oral and written reports of findings and when needed, expert testimony at deposition and trial. You will also be responsible for project management and technical oversight of multiple projects. You will evaluate and review design and field engineering changes, ensure work quality and adherence to specifications and performs related duties as assigned.
This is a remote position reporting to the office during training and on occasion as needed. Training is approximately six months.
We will consider candidates from other states if they can relocate at their own expense and have their NCEES to obtain comity/reciprocity in Florida and other states.

Responsibilities:- Performs forensic assignments within the field of electrical engineering expertise based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client.
- Studies and determines the cause and origin of electrical defects and/or damage based on field investigation and laboratory examinations.
- Support fire origin and cause fire investigation experts to determine electrical causes.
- Produces written forensic reports of findings detailing the cause and origin of electrical defects and/or damage.
- Manages multiple projects. Works in conjunction with other team members to produce client reports in timely manner.
- Follows land use laws and regulations and ensures compliance with electrical code regulations and standards.
- Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
- BS Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience
- PE license required (you will need to obtain licenses in other states to support work throughout southeast).
- NCEES needed to gain comity/reciprocity in other states.
- Electrical marine fires are a big part of this business so the ideal candidate will have marine electrical experience.
- Travel is required within a 2-to-3 hours’ drive one way around the local areas (mileage paid).
- 50% field work required.
- Independent judgment, strong analytical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are requirements in this position.
Language and writing skills needed will include:
- Writing scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence and other technical documents.
- The ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients and effectively present information to top management, clients, public groups and/or boards of directors.
Physical demands and work environment:
Physical demands/environmental characteristics will include but are not limited to the following:
- Work is performed at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, residential and/or marine sites).
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear and drive a motor vehicle to job sites.
- Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
