Position: Electrical Engineer
Reports to: Director of Automation and Technology Solutions
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supervising the manufacture of electrical equipment, systems, and components. This role applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to solve problems in the manufacturing of capital equipment, plastics converting, and automation systems.
Essential Functions:
Design and Development:
- Create electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings using controls software.
- Design and develop electrical control systems and components.
- Specify electrical components and materials for assembly and production.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for electrical systems.
Testing and Evaluation:
- Test prototypes and systems to ensure functionality and safety.
- Evaluate and verify design performance against specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with installed equipment.
Project Management:
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and technicians to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Manage project schedules and resources effectively.
- Provide technical guidance and support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to designs, specifications, and manuals.
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
Research and Innovation:
- Stay updated with advancements in electrical engineering technology and industry trends.
- Conduct research to develop new products, improve existing designs, or reduce costs.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance performance or efficiency.

Competencies:
- Proficient in SOLIDWORKS or DraftSight.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting technical information.
- Strong project management skills to oversee projects from conception to completion.

Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and routine office equipment.
- Physical movement is required to inspect, touch, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or twist during the capital equipment manufacturing process.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer work.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
Status: Full-time, exempt
Travel: Occasional travel may be required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Experience with Rockwell and/or Beckhoff controls is highly desirable.
