Position summary:
The Instrument and Electrical Engineer (I&E) provides instrumentation and electrical day to day troubleshooting, project, and technical expertise to solve site complex problems with new and existing equipment and reports through the Technology Organization. The person in this position is expected to support optimizing production processes with regards to safety, environment, reliability, quality, efficiency, and regulatory requirements and provide leadership in the selection, application, specification, installation, and commissioning of electrical and select process equipment. The person in this position is also responsible for leading the implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance programs required for instrumentation and electrical equipment plant wide.
Responsibilities:
- Draft equipment specifications for specific instrument and electrical applications and contribute to projects during planning, scoping, and design review phases.
- Project sponsor for I&E projects. Develop plans, scope, and strategies for selecting capital improvements.
- Project design work for instrument and control valve specifications, electrical (<600V), loop sheets, analyzer sample system design. Final I&E design package review and approvals for projects.
- Guide the troubleshooting, repair and refurbishment of plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
- Develop and implement control strategy changes and equipment modifications to improve the efficiency of the process - Configure, tune and optimize process control loops in the DCS.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical or refining industry focused on instrumentation.
- Strong experience in below 600-volt electrical experience preferred.
- Strong process analyzer-preferred
- Project support and design project work
- Troubleshooting problematic instruments
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, creative thinking, consulting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize work to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
