The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for the constructable, detailed design on most projects. They lead design efforts through completing site trips, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, vendors, and construction teams. Electrical Engineer II completes the conceptual design on small and medium size projects and functions as the lead designer on projects.

Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $68,000 to $85,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops detailed designs independently by leveraging industry knowledge, company and external standards, and lessons from previous projects to enhance deliverables.
- Executes designs across various delivery methods, including design-build, plan and specification, and design-assist projects.
- Facilitates information sharing with design disciplines, field contacts, clients, vendors, utilities, and governing agencies to ensure alignment and clarity.
- Conducts site trips effectively by planning, working with onsite teams, and processing information after returning.
- Delegates work to other team members by clearly outlining the purpose and process of the deliverable.
- Contributes to estimates and conceptual design phases by providing technical insights and design recommendations.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Completes deliverables across multiple disciplines or lanes, demonstrating agility and expertise in each.
- Lead routine project meetings by setting clear agendas, facilitating discussions, and ensuring actionable outcomes.
- Apply hands-on experience from panel shop, prefabrication, or field work to enhance design knowledge
Review, update, and conduct training on current standards to ensure team adherence and continuous improvement. - Mentor and train new employees by providing guidance, sharing best practices, and offering feedback.

Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field from a four-year ABET-accredited program is required. Candidates should have 2–4 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and practical experience that demonstrates the required competencies. Graduates must be eligible to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or have achieved EIT (Engineer in Training) certification prior to graduation. This position requires a strong knowledge of electrical terminology and components, electrical symbols, and the National Electric Code (NEC). Proficiency in drafting software is preferred for success in this position.
Travel Requirements:Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 25% of your time.

Work Environment:Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to various worksites may also be required, depending on the assignment.
