Job Summary
The Medical Device Solution team is seeking an Electrical Engineer as a core team member in the design and development of medical products and systems. This role is located in Columbus, OH . This role supports all phases of product design including conceptualization, feasibility assessment/demonstration, testing and documentation.
Responsibilities
+ Support a development of the product design requirements and system architecture
+ Develop analog and digital circuit designs for subsystems or systems based upon requirements
+ Fabricate, test, debug, and implement electrical hardware and/or firmware designs
+ Support brainstorming activities to investigate unusual design challenges where considerable judgment, creativity and innovation are required to identify the problem and provide input into a solution. Use your experience to recommend a technical approach and assess its feasibility.
+ Complete projects and tasks within budget and schedule, communicating results and progress in written and oral communications to project leadership and commercial clients
+ Generate design documentation and test reports
+ Follow Battelle’s ISO 13485 quality system processes and procedures. Lead and/or participate in process improvement efforts and technology initiatives.
+ Mentor junior team members and interns.
+ Support development of client proposals.
Key Qualifications
+ B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline AND 2+ years of relevant experience; or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education/experience in a relevant field.
+ Experience with analog, digital, and electro-mechanical circuit design and component selection.
+ US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
+ Experience with development and testing of embedded systems and power supply circuits.
+ Demonstrated work experience with electronic laboratory equipment and test methods development
+ Knowledge of troubleshooting/ fault isolation techniques
+ Experience in schematic capture (i.e., Altium) and circuit board layout.
+ Experience using structured methodologies and analysis techniques such as circuit simulation (i.e., SPICE), tolerance analysis, experimental design, and evaluation.
+ Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who works well within a team environment.
+ Excellent oral/written communication skills to support interaction with cross-functional team members, internal management, and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with communications standards and protocols including NFC, USB, I2C, SPI, Bluetooth, and/or Wi-Fi.
+ Experience with developing, testing, and modeling of electromagnetic and/or RF circuits.
+ Experience with the integration of hardware and software/firmware systems.
+ Working knowledge of the product design process, electronic manufacturing processes and design documentation requirements
+ Working knowledge and experience in risk analyses (i.e., ISO14971)
+ Background in medical products operating under a registered QS and under FDA Design Controls
+ Experience in medical device design and testing for regulatory/ compliance (i.e. IEC 60601)
+ Experience with applying safety standards requirements (IEC, UL, TUV) to the product design process.
