The Position:
Electrical Engineers are responsible for performing a variety of electrical engineering tasks including the research, development, planning and design phases of electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, and other related electrical subsystems common to MEP consulting engineering projects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application.
- Develop floor plans, schematics, schedules, diagrams, and other documentation for electrical distribution and lighting systems, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Exercise independent judgment in the use of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria such as ASHRAE, NFPA, International Building, and Electrical Codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Assist drafters in developing the electrical systems using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
- Observe construction activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a four-year university required.
- 2-4 years of experience working with the application of all conventional aspects of electrical engineering related to the design and installation of electrical power and lighting systems in office buildings, critical facilities, schools, healthcare facilities, and/or related MEP Consulting Engineering.
- Working familiarity and understanding of ASHRAE, NFPA, and International Building and Electrical Codes required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit CAD software required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) required.
