About the Job
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of electrical equipment and wiring systems, primarily with a focus on systems within vehicles
- Perform electrical evaluations of failed and damaged components to determine the root cause of the failure including evaluation of vehicle electrical components, ADAS systems, LiDAR, smart and controls systems
- Apply engineering principles in accordance with industry standards to investigation analysis
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients and relay analysis in laymen's terms
- Investigate fires involving electrical equipment and systems
- Prepare and submit written reports that document failure(s), extent of loss, cause(s) and recommended remediation
- Deliver professional presentations and promote self to client groups
- Development and retention of client relationships with assistance of business development group
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings, including deposition and serving as a subject matter expert at trial
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participate in professional societies
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred
- P.E. registration within 12 months of starting position
- Five years of post-academic engineering experience
- Background in automotive electrical systems
- Excellent oral and writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel as needed; approximately 90% of required travel is to local sites (by vehicle), approximately 10% overnight travel
- Ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Ability to remove large and or heavy artifacts from fire scenes
- Ability to carry equipment (shovels, camera, evidence case, etc.) up flights of stairs
- Ability to shovel out fires and lift fire debris in conjunction with investigations, for up to 3 to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and structures and climb ladders
- Ability to drive to site locations and fly on airplanes
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
