SUMMARY:
Our direct client, XAI, is seeking a highly experienced **Electrical Engineer** to contribute to our data center infrastructure projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, robust project management skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable data center facilities that support our mission-critical operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Infrastructure Design & Planning:
- Participate in design meetings for electrical systems in new data center builds and expansions, focusing on a mechanical or electrical perspective.
- Assist in conducting feasibility studies and developing detailed specifications for system components.
- Support the **complete design and construction process, including permitting.
System Implementation:
- Assist in overseeing the installation of high-capacity power distribution units (PDUs), UPS systems, cooling units, and other critical infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (like Uptime Institute Tier Standards), safety regulations, and company policies.
Operations & Maintenance:
- Contribute to managing the maintenance schedule and ensuring all electrical systems are operating at optimal efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting efforts for power issues, minimizing downtime and enhancing system reliability.
Capacity Management:
- Analyze and forecast power needs based on current and projected IT loads.
- Implement strategies for energy efficiency and cost reduction.
Team Interaction:
- Support the team in providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Project Coordination:
- Assist in project management for major infrastructure projects, from conception through to commissioning.
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and internal departments to ensure project timelines are met.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations concerning electrical systems.
- Promote a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in data center operations.
- Expert knowledge of the complete design and construction process, including permitting**.
- Expertise in data center electrical systems (transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems).
- Proficient with CAD tools like AutoCAD or Revit for design documentation.
- Strong project management skills with experience in contributing to large-scale data center projects.
- Excellent communication and team interaction skills.
- Certifications like CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) or similar are a plus.
