Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities
The Electrical Professional Engineer (“Engineer”) will: PE preferred but not required
•Maintain responsibility for the engineering design services of the firm, including all aspects of electrical engineering
•Perform, review, and/or approve electrical engineering work performed by the firm
•Assist in the professional development and training of less experienced engineers
•Establish and maintain standards for the firm’s electrical design and analysis
•Lead and/or support multidiscipline project including project management roles
•Manage project execution in accordance with project budgets and schedules
•Interface with firm personnel, clients, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and other engineering firms to support the firm’s services
•Other duties as assigned to support the success of the firm and its clients
•Maintain professional engineering licensure in good standing, maintain continued professional development, and stay current on electrical design and industry standards and technological advancement
Typical Duties
•Prepare detail calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and related documents for electrical distribution, power, control, communication, electronic, and automation systems for new installations, modifications, refurbishments, modifications, or upgrades related to container and bulk material handling terminals and equipment including voltage levels up to 15 kV
•Develop ETAP model and run analysis on load flow, short circuit, arc-flash, and device coordination
•Evaluate existing power distribution and control systems design and components for specific installations and applications
•Review equipment manufacturer design submittals for technical specification compliance
•Manage project execution and timely completion
•Work with engineers, designers, and drafters on multi-discipline projects
•Communicate with clients, vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers
•Perform condition assessments, witness condition testing and commissioning, and attend meetings at project locations, client offices, and equipment manufacturer offices
•Maintain proficiency and expertise with continued development and advancement in electrical and electronic technologies and industry solutions
•Develop and maintain company electrical standards within the firm
•Maintain professional engineering licensure in electrical engineering in good standing in several states where projects are present
Minimum Required Qualifications
•Active Professional Engineering License in electrical engineering in good standing
•8+ years of full time experience in design and analysis of electrical power distribution systems and electronic control systems
•Proficiency in Microsoft products, AutoCAD, & applicable electrical design software including ETAP.
•Effective communication skills and proficiency in speaking and writing in English
•Ability to work self-directed on multiple tasks or projects with excellent organization and timemanagement skills
•Self-disciplined, driven, high moral and ethical standards, and work well in a team environment
•Ability to travel domestically or globally (up to 10% travel) for trips typically 1 week or less, but periodically up to 2 weeks
•Work on exterior, open-air structures with heights exceeding 200 ft. with ability to climb stairs and ladders
•Ability to work in the US without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
•Must have or be capable of obtaining a valid US Passport
Preferred Qualifications
•Proficiency with electrical distribution systems for high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage AC and DC systems
•Proficiency with Program Logic Control (PLC) systems and electronic control systems and components
•Proficiency with Arc Flash Hazard analysis, design, and protection
•Proficiency in short circuit analysis
•Proficiency in device coordination
•Proficiency in communication technologies such as fiber optics
•Proficiency in equipment automation
•Perform, review, and/or approve electrical engineering work performed by the firm
•Assist in the professional development and training of less experienced engineers
•Establish and maintain standards for the firm’s electrical design and analysis
