Role Description:

SZ PM Consultants, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer to support a major facilities management project. This position requires a skilled professional with expertise in building electrical distribution systems, including 120/208 and 277/480-volt systems. The role involves a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite and 2 days telework). This is a time-sensitive opening, with a tentative duration of December 16, 2024, through April 23, 2025, and potential for extension based on performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Electrical Design & Construction Documentation: Prepare detailed electrical construction documents, including conceptual design, constructability evaluations, planning, detailed design, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Multiple Project Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects across various phases, ensuring effective coordination and timely delivery of electrical design and implementation.
• Field Surveys & Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct field surveys to evaluate existing systems, collaborating with stakeholders to review and refine designs to meet project and industry standards.
• Electrical System Troubleshooting: Investigate and analyze issues within electrical distribution systems in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams. Provide studies, reports, and recommendations for system improvements.
• Design Review & Compliance: Review designs (both in-house and by external consultants) for compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, construction clarity, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Construction Administration: Review electrical submittals, shop drawings, and change orders to ensure compliance with specifications. Perform on-site inspections to verify that installations meet design and regulatory requirements.
• Technical Analyses: Perform electrical load calculations, lighting calculations, and other technical analyses using industry-standard software.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of all inspections, studies, and project updates. Report findings and recommendations to project managers and relevant stakeholders.
• Substantial Completion & Compliance: Participate in substantial completion inspections to ensure all electrical systems meet design intent, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate electrical systems with other building systems and resolve complex construction challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EIT/FE certification preferred).
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience with building electrical distribution systems (120/208 and 277/480 volts).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70B.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with high voltage systems (13,800 volts) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with electrical distribution system troubleshooting and design coordination.
