We have a 6-month, contract-to-hire opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with a government agency in Atlanta, GA responsible ensuring the electrical safety and functionality of our higher education construction and renovation projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and evaluating electrical design drawings and specifications for new buildings and renovations, primarily focusing on higher education facilities.
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and standards, including NEC, power, lighting, fire alarm systems, audio/visual systems, and IT systems.
- Identifying and troubleshooting errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and conflicts within the design documents.
- Verifying that all drawings meet safety and constructability codes, as well as campus and local agency standards.
- Communicating updates and clarifications to construction teams during occasional site visits.
To be successful, you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, construction document preparation, and review for commercial or educational facilities.
- Deep understanding and strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
We highly prefer candidates with:
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification
- Experience in plan review for a local municipality or state government.
- Experience as a commissioning agent or authority.
- Background in facility management or working with facility managers during design, construction, and project turnover.
