Electrical Engineer, all seniority levels - Integral Neurotechnologies
South San Francisco, CA
About the Job
Who we are
Integral builds technologies to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Our first device is a miniaturized, implanted, deep-brain interface for severely affected patients. It will have unprecedented capabilities for recording and modulating neural activity and for monitoring patients' symptoms.
This device will dramatically advance our ability to treat brain disorders and to understand their biological causes. We will use this unique discovery platform to develop an expanding range of more effective treatments that will ultimately be accessible to everyone.
You'll be working with:
- Eyal, Head of Engineering: Electrical engineering and R&D leader in medtech, biotech, and robotics for 15-years across industry and academia
- Flip, CSO: UCSF Prof. Emeritus and Neuralink cofounder; neuroscientist and neural engineer
- Ian, Head of Hardware: Mechanical engineer, implant architect, and technical leader for 20-years; has seen 4 large medical device programs from concept to clinic
- Milan, CEO: Neurotech venture builder formerly at Convergent Research; previously AI researcher and software engineer
We prioritize ambitious engineering, speed, and consistent focus on the needs of patients and their care providers.
What you'll do
You'll be responsible for solving mission-critical EE challenges across our device engineering efforts, including extremely space-constrained board design, wireless power transfer and communications, and novel lead and electrode design.
As one of our first team members, you'll get to play a critical role in defining our engineering strategy and culture.
More specifically, you will:
- Design circuits to prove and evaluate circuit blocks of our first-generation implant
- Iterate with MEs, neuroscientists, compliance experts, and surgeons to define product specs
- Help build out our lab
- Establish and manage relationships with vendors, partners, and consultants
- Achieve the highest standards of reliability, safety, and supply chain resilience
We work full-time, in-person in South San Francisco.
Who we're looking for
You have:
- A portfolio of impressive, relevant EE work: experience designing circuits from scratch and taking them through bringup, test, and transfer to production
- Cross-disciplinary expertise, including basic ME, SWE, industrial design, and new product introduction
- The desire to get your hands dirty: you can drive CAD, test equipment, soldering irons, etc.
- Deep understanding of fundamental EE principles
- The need for speed
- (Bonus) Experience with EE in heavily regulated industries (medical, automotive, aviation)
Neurotechnology experience is not necessary.
