We are seeking an Electrical Designer with experience on Life Sciences Projects to join our team at Eichleay with 6+ years’ experience. This position must be located within 100 miles of one of our offices in CA, preferably Orange, CA to perform the duties required of this position. You will have the flexibility to work from our office or remote from home. This is a full-time position with benefits including a 401K match, Employer HSA contribution and a flexible work schedule with every other Friday off.
Compensation: $40-80 per hour *anticipated rate may vary based on location, skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity. The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.

As an Electrical Designer at Eichleay you work with project teams to complete the design of the electrical scope of work of projects. You will support a diverse set of clients and projects. Our projects primarily include renovations to existing facilities in the following industries: chemical, life-sciences and food/beverage, and refinery. This role will mostly be focused on our Life Sciences and Food/Beverage clients. In this role you will prepare 3D models, electrical drawings, layouts and bills of materials.
You will be able to receive input from our engineering team and translate it into a set of engineering and construction drawings using 2D and 3D Revit. Your role will include aligning drawing production with client standards and ensuring that content is adequate for the construction of the electrical scope of the project. You will attend meetings and participate in client field visits as needed in the Office region. You may also be asked to travel on occasion outside of the area for other projects you support.
This position may include coordinating the work of other assigned designers and drafters, and reviewing and checking assigned work to meet quality standards. This includes reviewing and checking design models, drawings and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.

Requirements:
- Associate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and 5 or more years of experience; or specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices plus two additional years of experience; or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Electrical design for Life Sciences projects (biopharmaceuticals, food & beverage, consumer products and/or laboratories)
- Advanced experience with 3D modelling design – Significant Revit/BIM 360 experience and 3D modelling best practices/procedures
- Sound comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer modelling work, and preparation of electrical drawings.
- Basic understanding of engineering topics such as cable sizing, voltage drop, equipment sizing, and cable tray calcs.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to successful interact with electrical discipline lead engineer, project manager, clients, and other staff.
- Understands the need for coordination between other disciplines when related to available space and maintenance requirements for the equipment
- Knowledge of California Building Code, California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, and ADA Regulations.
- Knowledge of NFPA/NEC Standards and IEEE/IES Standards.
- Knowledge of ISA Standards.
- Knowledge of industrial computer systems, motor control, PLCs and DCSs.
- Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which will require an in-depth drug screening.
Preferred Requirements:
- Capability with lighting design software is a plus
- Good understanding of design and operation of Biopharmaceutical facilities in manufacturing, pilot plant, GMP practices, and laboratories.
- On-site experience with various life-science clients, and ability to understand typical systems of circuiting, emergency/backup power, clean space design, freezer rooms, etc.
