About the Job
Needed immediately: An Electrical Designer (preferably with Revit) in the Atlanta, GA metro area.
Job Summary:
Your primary responsibility will be to utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and other related tools to create accurate 3D models, coordinate electrical systems and produce installation drawings along with prefabrication information needed for a successful installation of a project that meets the design intent.
Job Duties:
1. Electrical Design: Collaborate with the project team, including engineers, and contractors, to develop electrical design concepts and solutions based on project requirements, needs and specifications.
2. BIM Modeling: Utilize BIM software (such as Revit) to create accurate 3D models of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
3. Coordination: Collaborate with other trades (e.g., mechanical, plumbing) along with General Contractors to ensure clash-free coordination of electrical systems with other building components. Resolve clashes and conflicts using BIM coordination tools.
4. Quantification and Estimation: Extract quantities of electrical components from the BIM model and collaborate with estimators (when needed) to prepare cost estimates along with material estimates for project teams.
5. Detailing and Documentation: Generate detailed drawings and documentation, including electrical plans, sections, coordinated models, schedules, prefabrication information and specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
6. Design Optimization: Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and potential value engineering opportunities (when needed) during the design phase. Propose solutions to optimize electrical system performance, constructability and efficiency.
7. Scheduling: Ability to set goals and schedule workload to ensure deliverables are met to support BIM coordination schedules and job schedules.
8. Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate and coordinate with project team members, including BIM team members, project managers, field teams and coordination teams to ensure project requirements are met.
9. Quality Assurance: Conduct regular model reviews with project team to ensure accuracy, completeness, constructability, adherence to project standards. Perform clash detection and resolution to minimize on-site coordination issues.
10. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to BIM, electrical design, and construction coordination.

Required:
- 1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical apprenticeship or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant certifications and training in BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Revit) are highly desirable.
2. Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in electrical design and construction coordination, preferably within the context of commercial, industrial, or institutional projects.
3. BIM Proficiency: Strong proficiency in using BIM software, particularly in electrical design and coordination. Experience with clash detection and coordination tools (such as Navisworks) is beneficial.
