CDI Engineering Solutions is a multi-disciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering design, project support, procurement and construction management services to the energy and chemicals industries.
Position Summary:Designer will provide Electrical Design expertise, including 2D & 3D Modeling. Support on site team to ensure interferences and rework is minimized. Coordinate with remote engineering and support personnel. Attend weekly area update meetings with primary contractor and owners as required.
Possible Remote Position
Responsibilities:Prepare CAD drawings from design sketches and verbal instructions provided by the Engineer and/or the Senior Designer.
Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
Demonstrates a continuing awareness and implementation of safety practices in the workplace and in the production of their CAD drawings (“Safety in Design”).
Performs related support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, etc.
Prepare legible sketches and field notes that include all pertinent dimensions, notes, and job number.
Perform sizing and load calculations.
Check detailed sketches and drawings for project applicability and optimal construction.
Prepare bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete. Revise drawings and BOM consistent with engineering changes.
Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of engineers.
Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources.
Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
Confirm specification and code compliance, equipment compatibility, and optimal cost savings.
Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
Assist with proposal compilation utilizing computer aided design equipment and/or graphic tools to prepare high-level layouts and sketches.
Utilize 2D or 3D computer aided design software to create layouts of systems, devices and components, and create fabrication and assembly drawings.
Analyze the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems and recommend possible solutions or alternate construction options.
Produce drawings and deliverables utilizing company standards within project-approved schedule and budget.
Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
Perform field data gathering when required to complete project deliverables within approved project scope and schedule.
Uses time efficiently.
Track and maintain a continued awareness of overall schedule and budget for assigned projects.
Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
Supports field assignments as required.
Comply with all company and client health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) standards as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents to your supervisor.
Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of Electrical design experience.
Experience based on knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify with the approval of the Director of Engineering and the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Education Requirements:The Designer must have a High School education (or equivalent), with additional basic drafting courses training from a vocational-technical school or other applicable program. As an alternative, the Designer must have a minimum of two (2) years of education in an associate or bachelor’s degree program at a university or community college for Electrical discipline.
