The Electrical Controls Engineer will design electrical machine controls for standard and custom packaging machines, provide programming, integration and communication for various PC’s, PLC’s, HMI’s, single and multi-axis servos, VFD’s and related components on standard and custom packaging machines. You will be working with the Packaging, Machinery and Automation (PM&A) Team based in Orlando, FL, where you will assist to develop equipment through the implementation of immerging technologies and best in class controls design practices.
How you will impact our client:
- Provide standard machinery controls design for solving our customer's packaging needs.
- Responsible for accuracy of calculations in reference to electrical and pneumatics required for designing automation mechanisms and equipment.
- Create and maintain electrical bills of materials, in a structured format and submit to purchasing and production on the specific equipment.
- Research purchased electrical components for adequate sizing and selection of various electrical devices.
- By using AutoCAD 2D develop working electrical layout drawings, control cabinet drawings, and pneumatic layout drawings for production and customer usage in component identification.
- Assist in cost reduction and quality improvement of the electrical designs for our machinery.
- Understand customer's electrical specifications and needs for their packaging operations.
- Assist technical writer in creation of machine documentation.
- Provide programming for standard equipment upgrades, and all custom packaging machinery.
- Participate in start-up and commissioning of machinery in plant and occasionally at customer’s facility.
What you'll need:
- US Citizenship is required for this role
- Background in a corrugate production arena ideal.
- Candidate will need a completed BSEE, w/ 3+ years. (Recent graduates do not qualify!!!)
- Preferred candidate will have high robotics programming acuity.
- AutoCAD electrical
- PLC/HMI/Robotic cells controls required
- Create Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI control programs to interface with FANUC and/or KUKA robot control programs.
- Manage robot control programs for case loading, palletizing, and other material handling applications.
- Design controls and programming for other material handling equipment such as conveyors, collators and dispensers relative to efficient product, case and pallet handling.
- Interface with Project Management and Mechanical Engineering team to ensure that electrical designs and programming are in-line with overall project objectives.
- Assist the Application Engineering department to develop strong control concepts to support new customer applications.
- Research and implement immerging technologies that lead to world class design and implementation of plant equipment, with strong emphasis on design flexibility and redeployment.
- Create a foundation of commonly utilized and proven designs/programs that can be standardized/reutilized.
Education
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience.
- Minimum 3-years’ experience in electrical/controls/programming – Required
- Design Experience – Required
- CAD skill required (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
