Position Overview:
Claros Technologies is primarily focused on the research, development, scale-up, and commercialization of its PFAS destruction technology.
We are seeking an Electrical & Controls Design Engineer that will enable us to expand our technology and capabilities to further support our customers. The role requires a detailed understanding of industrial automation equipment and system controls (hardware and software) for the full line of the Company's products. This position is responsible for the design of electrical panels, schematics, and cable layouts and for the development, improvement, and diagnostics of PLC programs and HMI's.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop control system layout and wiring schematic drawings in AutoCAD (or equivalent)
- Develop HMI/PLC programs for support skids (pumps, actuated valves, instrumentation, and similar components)
- Work closely with vendors, both in specifying/selecting components and in project managing electrical panel providers
- Configure, load, and debug software (HMI and PLC)
- Assist in pre-power up checks and start-up routines
- Investigate and resolve issues related to electrical and controls package
- Crosstrain team members on basic configuration and troubleshooting tasks
- Provide remote assistance and/or field support during pilots and system commissioning
- Lead and assist control improvement projects for performance, optimization, safety, and reliability needs
Competencies & Skills:
- Strong technical know-how, with a jack-of-all-trades mindset
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; experience in a customer-facing role a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot technological issues at partner sites as needed
- Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
- Inquisitive mindset
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred, Bachelor's degree with applicable experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) NFPA 70 and UL508A for industrial control panels; IEC electrical knowledge a plus
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience
- Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Proficiency in the following areas a plus:
- IEC programming language, 61131 standards
- Allen Bradley programming software
- CAD and/or Circuit Design Software
- Job Specifications
- Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000
- Location: In person at the Claros Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Travel: May be required periodically for purposes such as client site visits; not required on a regular or frequent basis.
