This role is at a Dairy Foods manufacturing facility for Land O'Lakes, creating dairy products that stand for real, simple goodness. This position leads technical and cultural change in safety, environmental and resource conservation. Approximately, 50% Tactical work and 50% Strategic work. Participates in design, development, & implementation of facility safety, health, & environmental programs & procedures to safeguard employees and ensure the facility is compliant with Land O' Lakes EHS standards and all Federal, State, & Local safety/environmental regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Regulatory Compliance and Risk Reduction:
- Provide input to corporate wide EHS initiatives or projects.
- Review capital projects and provide EHS input.
- Develop and implement site specific Safety Programs: Tracking Safety Brakes, fire extinguisher, safety shower and eyewash inspections, ordering and stocking PPE, conducting regular safety walk-throughs using a pre-prepared checklist, etc.
- Identifying Safety Hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Conducting OSHA/EHS Safety Standards inspections.
- Facilitate Safety Committee meetings.
- Plant and Division Reporting: Maintain records of incidents (near miss, first aid, recordable, etc.) and enter them into the EHS website.
- Lead Incident Investigations - determine root causes and report out. Track completion of Action Plans and encourage responsible persons to make progress. Enter monthly EHS metrics into the EHS website and help prepare monthly EHS reports. Send routine communications to the Plant Manager and Division EHS staff regarding the status of open Action Plans and other metrics as requested.
- Training: Prepare, schedule, and present OSHA and EHS Program training including room setup, attendance sheets, etc. Track required employee training and notify supervisors when employee training is incomplete. Collect training material so it is available to other trainers and enter quizzes and attendance sheets into a training record-keeping program. Send routine communications to the Plant Manager and Division EHS staff regarding the status of training compliance.
- Participate and present at Annual EHS Standards Self-Audits and corrective action follow up
- Participation and present in Corporate EHS / Operations calls
- You will be an active contributing member of the PSM Team and will implement/own certain elements such astraining, contractor safety, hot work, emergency response, and others as directed. Investigates accidents and promotes safety-conscious work performance and training programs.
Environmental Regulatory Compliance and Risk Reduction:
- Conducting routine compliance inspections and complete reporting requirements for required environmental compliance programs (Ex. air emissions, SPCC, storm water, spill reporting, hazardous waste, waste-water, etc.).
- Develop focused communications and issues resolutions plan related to compliance.
Resource Conservation:
- Develop and Lead Plant resource conservation programs in water, waste water, energy and recycling.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE - EDUCATION (Preferred):
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Safety Management, Engineering or related field.or 6+ years work in lieu of degree
- The following Safety & Environmental certifications are preferred; PE, FET, CSP, ASP, CHMM
- Minimum of 2 years of EHS Management experience in a Food, Dairy or related manufacturing environment
COMPETENCIES-SKILLS (Required):
- Must possess strong leadership skills, problem solving skills, and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills at various levels of the company
- Strong computer skills, including usage of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Effective communication skills for working cross-functionally in a fast-paced work environment
HOURS: This role requires off shift hours, weekends and holidays as needed
