Job description:
Job Summary:
The position will provide guidance, structure, training and development for our environmental health and safety program. The Quality/EHS Manager is responsible for establishing; implementing and maintaining an effective quality system that assures processes are followed and documented in relation to ISO 9001 standards, customer or company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management Duties:
- Participate in product planning and product qualification for new product development projects, in house or with third-party development partners, ensuring high quality of products released to manufacturing.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints related to returned goods
- Ensure project requirements are implemented and maintained
- Establish and maintain nonconforming materials system, and review in-process problems
- Establish RMA returns and Manufacturing in-process goals, track and report on performances. Initiate and drive Corrective Action projects based on parato analysis of failure causes.
- SPC reporting, and development of sampling plans and test methods
- Act as management representative, both internally and externally, for ISO 9001 program
- Lead the quality department in developing and operating a quality system that documents and assures processes are carried out.
- Plan schedule and perform quality audits to assess Powervar’s compliance with the standards of ISO 9001, customer requirements, quality manual and general policies and procedures.
- Establish corrective and preventive action plans to evaluate adequacies and document results.
- Chair management review meetings and issue minutes
EHS Duties:
- Develop and conduct compliance audits, program evaluations and reviews to drive results with the fortitude to ensure change is permanent
- Document OSHA Response procedure and deliver training to all levels of the company
- Be the primary driver of a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Manage all compliance reporting and testing
- Establish best practices in a manufacturing environment to ensure the identification and elimination of potential safety hazards using various methods including e.g., safety walks, safety training and kaizen
- Create and deliver appropriate training throughout the organization
- Design, manage, and conduct Safety Walks
- Establish, record, and publish a Safety metric
- Manage adherence to NFPA70e
- Manage compliance issues such as OSHA, and EPA reporting
- Manage environmental issues such as EPA reporting, noise testing, air sampling
- Drive consistent and effective accident Root Cause investigations
- First aid and Near Miss reporting follow up
- Maintain the MSDS library and monitor usage of materials
- Working with various Apps in Office 365
- Performing and following up on Accident/Incident investigations
- Reviewing & enforcing existing OSHA policies to keep them up to date
- Training Groups on Safety or Continuous Improvement topics
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Quality Engineering or related field is desired
- Minimum of three years experience in electronic product development, preferably in power electronics
- Experience with regulatory testing and approval, e.g. UL, TUV, FCC, CE
- Knowledge of ISO9001 standards and quality engineering practices
- Experience using Metrology equipment both electrical and mechanical
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of commonly used procedures, practices and concepts within an operational organization using ISO9000 practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at several technical levels.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Ability to work well with other departments and lead improvement team efforts.
- Manage by facts, view work as a process, strive for continuous improvement ultimately providing superior customer satisfaction.
- Independent judgment in establishing priorities
- Familiarity with an annual calibration process and associated follow-up activities.
- Expert knowledge of MS Office Software especially Excel, Word and Power point.
- Proficient in MS Office365
- Experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
- Knowledge of, or Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean
- Great Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- OSHA 10 or 30 Hour
