Howmet's Dover, NJ facility has an opening for an Environmental, Health, & Safety Engineer. Our Company's environmental, health, and safety values along with our leadership's commitment provide the successful candidate an excellent environment to work and deliver results. This position is a key member of the location's EHS team and is highly visible position in the plant and Business Unit. The position provides an excellent platform for potential future growth to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist with location fatality prevention efforts including helping to lead deployment and execution of key fatality prevention elements and coaching location leaders.
- Analyze injury and incident data and assist line management in the implementation of focused injury reduction efforts. Provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction efforts.
- Assist with the facility's industrial hygiene program including execution of IH sampling plans, the administration of IH databases and employee exposure records, hazardous material management, ergonomics oversight and serve as the radiation protection technical resource.
- Provide technical expertise and participate in injury/incident investigations to assist in identifying root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Coach and counsel departmental leaders in the execution of their EHS accountabilities.
- Partner with location leadership to deliver EHS objectives.
- Lead and assist with other EHS accountabilities.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated professional with passion for change and relentless focus on execution.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State EHS related regulations and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and human relations skills.
- Ability to make difficult decisions with sometimes an incomplete set of data.
- Critical skills include: Execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, establishing a direction, drive for change, gaining organization support and tenacity.
