The Educator Effectiveness team sits within the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Talent Office and manages the evaluation process for teachers and principals. In close partnership with the other CPS departments we produce materials and training in an effort to implement evaluation as a coaching exercise rather than a compliance mandate.
Job Summary:
The Educator Evaluation Support Manager will manage evaluation data for teachers, assistant principals and principals, and will support the Reflect and Learn Team (RLT). The RLT supports the web-based system where evaluators log evidence and ratings for teacher and school leader evaluations across the District. This position will support all aspects of the evaluation process to ensure the RLT provides excellent customer service with a focus on continuous improvement. This involves close collaboration with other departments, including but not limited to IT, SQM, and Assessment. The Educator Evaluation Support Manager will lead a direct reporting professional in this work and will report to the Director of Teacher and Principal Evaluation.
The Educator Evaluation Support Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Build evaluation tracking system for teacher and principal/evaluations, including ad hoc and data analysis reports for varied stakeholders
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure data analysis for tenure attainment is properly reflected in the assignment of evaluation plans
- Support the school-based human capital management processes by providing timely and accurate data review
- Support management of technical aspects of REACH and Principal and AP evaluation within the Reflect and Learn System
- Participate in regular calls with our RLS vendor (PowerSchools), identifying opportunities to improve RLS and ensure CPS users have a seamless experience when using the tool
- Track data to ensure that the RLS Team is fulfilling end-user needs in a prompt manner (RLS inbox, Google form requests, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create dashboards and/or data review systems for REACH and Principal/Assistant Principal Evaluations
- Collaborate with other members of Educator Effectiveness to create a comprehensive calendar, identifying key dates and deliverables for REACH, Principal, and AP Evaluation
- Plan and facilitate user feedback sessions to identify improvements to job aids and training tools
- Provide strategic support and change management strategies to improve evaluation systems
- Assist with coordinating evaluator assignments in the Reflect and Learn System
- Provide in-person training as needed to a variety of stakeholders who regularly use RLS
- Manage the CPS Dashboard to track educator observation completion
- Build and manage tracking systems in the Dashboard for teacher and principal/assistant principal evaluations to support ongoing monitoring of robust, accurate evaluation data at district, network, and school levels
- Additional projects, workstreams, duties as assigned
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Educator Evaluation Support Manager must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, required
Experience Required:
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in human resources, educational leadership, or a related field, including the following, is required:
- Experience supporting evaluation processes, including all cycles of the evaluation process and the appropriate use of evaluation data
- Experience with human capital and data management
- Experience leading teacher evaluation processes in a school or school network is preferred

- Major quantitative qualitative monitoring methodologies and proven ability to design evaluation instrumentation tools
- How evaluation systems, processes, and programs are inter-connected

Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
- Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency -Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
- Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 -Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up-to-date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
