The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) seeks an experienced educator with a positive attitude and strong work ethic to fill the role of Educator Competency Licensing Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting educators and educator preparation programs with licensing processes,competency assessment,and the development of flexible teacher preparation options.
Principal Duties
As an Educator Licensing Specialist you will:
- Develop,implement,and revise educator preparation competencies.
- Support educator preparation programs in competency alignment.
- Review professional examination requirements and equivalencies.
- Develop diverse competency demonstration pathways (assessments,micro-credentials,etc.).
- Collaborate with USBE staff on Utah s Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program.
- Provide guidance,training,and technical assistance to preparation programs.
- Supervise technical support staff to ensure efficiency and responsiveness.
- Assist USBE Licensing Staff with applications,communication,and processes.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
All applicants must have the following qualifications:
- 3+ years of classroom teaching experience.
- Current Utah Professional Educator License or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong professional collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Takes initiative and is self-directed.
- Familiarity with agency,professional,and/or industry standards.
The Ideal Candidate
In addition to the minimum qualifications,the ideal candidate will possess the following preferred qualifications:
- Master's Degree or higher in education
- Expertise in competency-based education
- Instructional coaching training and experience
- Basic knowledge of Special Education Law
- Familiarity with Utah Code and USBE administrative rule
- Knowledge of Utah license requirements

ual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
- Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
