position summary:
Manages all aspects of Business to Business (B2B) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), full system development life cycle including planning, analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, support and maintenance of computer applications and databases. Initiates, monitors, and controls the delivery of projects of varying sizes. Plans, organizes, manages, fulfills, and closes projects. May assist in day-to-day production issues, act as escalation point to resolve urgent and/or complex client issues and manage client expectations.
essential job functions & responsibilities:
- Plan, assign and direct the activities of the B2B EDI team involving design, development and systems analysis, mapping, integration testing, deployment, data communication configuration with trading partners, and postproduction support. Ensure team completes projects within budget and on time.
- Manage B2B EDI support and development. Ensures that all electronic transactions supporting business processes can be completed and are accepted and fully processed by the trading partners upon transmission.
- Ensure incoming and outgoing transactions are monitored daily and issues are resolved in a timely manner. Oversee documentation of solutions and day-to-day monitoring activities.
- Mentor, coach, and manage direct reports by establishing specific goals and objectives. Provide opportunities for others in the department to develop new skill sets regarding B2B EDI. Maintain adequate cross-training to facilitate proper coverage when needed.
- Manage and maintain IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (SI) / AS2 and VAN communication systems with trading partners.
- Organize and maintain system documentation knowledge base. This includes all specifications provided by trading partners.
- Perform complex analysis of DB2 database in order to build and test EDI maps. Examine ERP error reporting, system journals, and job logs to investigate and correct problems that have affected the normal flow of business. Monitor Sterling logs to detect errors that have occurred during EDI data transmissions and take corrective actions where necessary.
- Write manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures. Assist users to solve operating problems.
- Provide 24x7 technical support on a rotation basis following guidelines set by management.
Computer Science degree and seven years working experience with B2B EDI systems, analysis, design, and project management.
skills required:
Extensive knowledge and experience using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, AS2, FTP, VAN. Knowledge of API processing is required. Understanding of data communication protocols and issues. Familiarity with Word, Excel and Visio is needed. Solid experience working with most EDI transactions is needed. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems. Experience working on IBM i (formerly AS/400) is a plus. Ability to comprehend manuals, periodicals and technical reports and apply ways to develop programs that meet user requirements. Ability to compose simple business correspondence, calculate figures and amounts, and apply basic math concepts along with the means to apply problem solving skills. Solid people leader skills: ability to communicate effectively, motivate, support, train, develop and recognize people is essential.
