We have a proud history of ensuring public safety and enhancing quality of life in Edgewater, New Jersey, a 2.86 square-mile community of approximately 15,000 residents located in Bergen County on the shorelines of the Hudson River. The residents of Edgewater are fortunate to have a relatively low rate of violent crime incidents and property crimes. We handle approximately 23,000 calls for service per year. The Edgewater Police Department has worked hard to ensure that we are maintaining quality services to its community. Our priority is the safety of all of our community members regardless of age, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Our goal continues to focus on serving the needs of the community.
Minimum Requirements
- Age 18-35 years old
- Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalency diploma.
- Applicants must be able to pass a detailed background check, physical exam, and a psychological exam.
License/Certification requirements are:
- Officer must currently be employed full time by a civil service agency as a PTC certified Basic Police Officer.
- Currently attending an NJ PTC Alternate Route Academy for Certified Basic Police Officer.
- Current NJ Driver's License
Applicants must waive internal investigation file, sick time records, and submit to a comprehensive & full investigation.
