Job Summary

Career Ladder Opportunities available Responsible for a variety of technical duties necessary to the acquisition of echocardiographic examinations and maintenance of the normal operation of the adult echocardiography laboratory. Cardiac sonographers independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of various cardiac imaging procedures. Sonographers prepare, administer and document activities related to ultrasound enhancing agents in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned department.
Job Duties
+ Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
+ Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
+ Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
+ Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
+ Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
+ Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
+ Preparing and/or administering ultrasound enhancing agents through new or existing vascular access site in accordance with ASE guidelines for appropriate use.
+ Communicates abnormal and unexpected findings with the provider to prioritize the need for additional testing or urgency of care with the licensed provider.
+ Collaborating with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures.
+ Ensuring equipment parameters for diagnostic, interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner.
+ Performing diagnostic, interventional imaging sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities.
+ Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
+ Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
+ Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
+ Assists in approved research activities.
+ Assist with structural heart procedures.

The following certifications required upon hire:
+ Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification and
+ Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) or CCI credential.
Perform duties in a dynamic work environment. Ability to utilize state of the art technology to identify cardiac pathology and guide optimal patient care
Hours: 7:30 a .m.- 4:00 p.m.
On Call: R otation requirements discussed during interview process

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required), Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Related Field of Study (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
