GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs electrocardiography/Echo studies an all patient populations served (neonate to mature adult). Maintains communication between technical staff, nursing units and physicians to ensure tests and reports are completed in a timely manner, may need to provide on-call coverage. Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate.
- Performs diagnostic cardiology testing in compliance with department procedure and regulatory guidelines.
- Graduate of an approved Echo or Cardiovascular Program.
- One (1) year experience preferred.
- Board certified and board registered in cardiology vascular technology preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular program or one year post high school education in the biological sciences. This could include college course or professional training in echocardiography offered by vendors or other recognized organizations. Experience in neonatal and pediatric echocardiography preferred. Experience in transesophageal echocardiography required.
Required Length and Type of Experience
On the job training candidates must have at least one year on the job experience.
Required Licensure or Certification
Registered Echocardiography Technician or within one year of hire. CPR certified.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
All employees are required to know and demonstrate competency in all OSHA requirements for the position such as use of personal protective equipment, safety equipment, and procedures, and handling of hazardous materials, etc. Must be able to walk or stand almost continuously during shift, lift and carry boxes and equipment (50 pounds), and push wheeled equipment through carpeted hallways. All employees are required to be aware of all MSDS considerations for this position, which identifies all items in their particular area, as well as the location of the MSDS manual. All employees will be educated regarding Bloodbourne Pathogen Exposure Category I-Employees whose routine and/or daily duties, tasks, or procedures always expose them to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
