The purpose of an Echo Technician is to perform imaging procedures such as stress echocardiology, bubble studies, strain and contrast studies. They prepare patients and equipment for imaging procedures and explain the process to patients.
Responsibilities:- Proficient in all aspects of an Echo Lab, including all tests (Echo Imaging, Echo/Doppler/Color Flow, Stress Echo, Contrast study)
- Provide professional quality technical care for the Clinic patients, according to established guidelines and practices.
- Enter all necessary data into EMR.
- Be familiar with saving/retriving images on DVR.
- Recognize and report to cardiologist significant abnormal findings.
- Perform Doppler Echocardiography and Stress Echocardiography. Check images for the signs of contraindication for the Stress test.
- Maintain testing area with necessary supplies, materials, and cleanliness.
- Possess skill to perform everyday duties to maintain the highest quality standard established in the Echo Lab and cardiology department.
- Perform related work responsibilities as required or needed in the Echo Lab
- Be skilled in maintaining and preparing records.
- HS Diploma or GED required
- Certification of Echo Technician required.
- Basic EKG interpretation.
- Minimum of at least 2-3 years of previous Echo Lab experience.
- Understanding of cardiac anatomy as recorded by M-mode, 2D echocardiography with all the standard views.
- Knowledge of cardiac hemodynamic as demonstrated by pulsed Doppler, continuous wave Doppler and Color flow imaging.
- Familiarity with the basic procedures and equipment used in exercise electrocardiography so that the equipment can be used for exercise echocardiography.
- Understanding of basic principles of digital echocardiography and quantitation, along with two dimensional measurement techniques; rapid image recording (within one minute) after exercise echocardiography is vital.
- Familiarity with contrast study procedures.
