About the Job
We are looking for qualified Early Head Start Teachers/Lead Teachers.
We are assisting our Headstart Partner Organization-Hometown Child Care in Aurora, IL. We are working he finding great candidates.
As a Lead Teacher in the Early Head Start program, you will help prepare small children for preschool by easing them into organized education. Many of the children are from families deemed at-risk for one reason or another, and need that extra empathy and understanding. You will play an important role in their lives. This is not just babysitting! Applicants must have fondness and patience for children. Our goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop curriculum suitable for children ages 3 years and under
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional conflict
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through age-appropriate curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and development
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS: We are only looking for Lead Qualified Teachers
A Lead Qualified Teacher must have:
- A minimum of 60 college credit hours with at least 6 credit hours in courses directly related to child care and/or child development from birth to age six
- OR One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 college credit hours with at least 6 credit hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six
- OR Completion of an Infant/Toddler CDA
- Must be at least 19 years old
PAY: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience and education
