POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary role of the counselor is to work in the preschool classroom to support learning and the social development of the children in the program. The job includes working directly with children within the learning centers of the classroom, helping to set up and clean-up activities and to support the teaching team to help children learn and grow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work directly with students to support and enhance their learning within the classroom.
- Set up and clean-up activities within the classroom learning centers.
- Support children’s emotional and social growth by helping to foster a warm and nurturing environment.
- Ensure the safety of the children in the program by helping children with routines and schedules.
- Support the teachers by working with them to optimize the smooth running of the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with young children in a group setting.
- The ability to work within a team approach.
- Skills in art, theater, music and literacy a plus.
- Positive job skills such as punctuality, dependence and reliability.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- Part-time position.
- Monday - Friday.
- Usual hours: 8:00AM-1:00 pm or 12:00 - 5 pm.
COMPENSATION:
- Pay rate at $16 to $18 per hour.
WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCES:
- Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must pass the background check, medical form and fingerprinting through the Departments of Health and Education.
