Job description:SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is a Business Unit Leader focused on establishing organizational goals, strategy development and execution, team building and management in the given market segment that aligns with the overall business strategy. The goal of this position and its team is to grow the company profitably by leveraging technical competency and commercial skill in the service of identifying and satisfying our customers’ and prospects’ needs. Oversell all areas of our delivery systems, surgical instrumentation, and implantable components market including strategic sales plans, sales forecasting, maintaining appropriate territories and headcount, market research and analysis, and strategic alliances, as well as setting business objectives and performance goals. Develop and oversee sales force, project management activities, and international case development engineering. Also involved with developing global initiatives and identifying promising opportunities for business expansion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees geographic or franchise-wide OEM relationships, assist in development of quotes, generation, and resolution of pricing, inventory, and strategic alliance contracts.
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals and achieve revenue and profit projections.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
- Maintains appropriate territories and headcount to obtain set objectives.
- Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, discount rates, competitive positions, product requirements, market segments, and promotional/advertising support.
- Uses market research to set strategic direction for future growth and expansion, identifying promising opportunities for creating business expansion.
- Recommends and/or approves budget and expenditures of the business development and sales teams in conformance with the budget.
- Participates in the selection and evaluation of related merger and acquisition activities.
- Envisions, co-develops, and implements global strategic initiatives in tandem with international and domestic business partners.
- Participates in operations reviews as an integral part of their process improvement activities, long term planning, and obtaining of business objectives.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
- Attend medical meetings, presentations, and seminars.
- Participate in conventions and professional exhibitions.
- Observe surgical procedures.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: Management experience and Bachelor’s degree in a technical, clinical, or scientific field required. MBA with marketing, entrepreneur, or management focus preferred. International sales experience and minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in a variety of positions focused in segments of the medical market required.
SKILLS: Awareness of international cultural dynamics and adaptability with diverse cultures, business practices, and communication styles. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop them in others. Ability to be a team player, demonstrating a mature, confident, and persuasive management and leadership position. Possesses a high level of energy and participation management style. A demonstrated capacity to think broadly and strategically about product and business issues. Deep understanding of industry. Exceptional client interaction skills and the ability to develop them in others. Ability to interface with the operating divisions of the company (finance, operations, engineering, legal, et c.) to incorporate their thinking on program details and drive business to closure. Technically sensitive and receptive.
